Gert & Uwe Tobias, the twins born in Romania, live and work in Cologne. They present their new project in the Pattern Room at Collezione Maramotti. Although the artists are famous for their large-size woodcuts, they have chosen many different techniques and materials for their artistic production.
In the exhibition the space becomes an extension of their work where wall paintings, drawings, sculptures and woodcuts bypass the static boundaries of the individual art piece to merge with the ambient. Their works mix abstract and figurative elements taken from the folk culture of their place of origin, Transylvania, but also from a contemporary formal language, where points of reference are imbued with strong ironic flavours. The result shows great immediacy and originality both formally and process-like.
